CareerRat is provided "as is" under the MIT License, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from use of the software.
User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for every job application you submit. CareerRat generates drafts and fills forms on your behalf; you must review and approve each submission. The tool is not a party to any application and accepts no liability for its accuracy, completeness, or consequences.
User-controlled final submission. CareerRat halts before final submission. Review every prepared field, then press the site's submit control yourself. There is no setting that lets CareerRat submit an application for you.
Terms of Service Compliance
Each job board, applicant tracking system, and employer site has its own Terms of Service. By using CareerRat, you agree to comply with all applicable terms. CareerRat is designed for individual, good-faith job searching — not for bulk scraping, automated mass-apply spam, or any use that would violate a site's rules.
No Fabrication
CareerRat never invents facts. It tailors language around evidence you supply. Do not instruct it to claim qualifications, employers, degrees, metrics, or tools you do not possess. Misrepresentation on job applications may constitute fraud and is solely your responsibility.
Data Privacy
Your candidate data (profile, evidence, compensation) is stored locally on your
machine inside the .careerrat/candidate/ directory, which is gitignored by default. CareerRat
does not transmit your personal data to any CareerRat-operated server. Data may be
sent to third-party AI provider APIs through the selected local AI runtime in
the course of generating tailored content. Review that provider's privacy
policy before use.
